My Fourth Pepper Garden video of the year. Looking back on where I was at this time last year, I really can't believe how many ripe peppers I have, ready to be harvested. Last year was a wet, cold disaster of a Summer, though September was spectacular, pulling the year out of the fire. This year has been a real improvement. Granted that we had our share of rain, but we had a more than equal amount of hot sunny days, often reaching into the 30's C (Mid to high 80's) As a matter of fact, the forecast for today is sunny and 32 (89.6 F) - It's also been quite humid. My plants are huge and full of enormous peppers, many of which are much hotter than they were last year. Because I posted an update in late July, which I don't usually do, I was thinking that I might skip an August update, but I was looking at the plants all full of ripe peppers and droopy from not being watered for a couple of weeks and thought that it might be neat to show exactly how much I stress the plants, once the peppers are ripening. If you don't withhold water from your pepper plants at this stage, you are not producing pods as hot as you could. Remember that these are peppers - not tomatoes! Also, never water the plants in the middle of a hot day. I waited until the cool evening and then watered them for about 15 minutes. This morning they are looking lush and beautiful. Just a tip.
